4 Ways To Find Out What To Buy Your Colleague For Secret Santa

So the most wonderful time of the year has arrived, your office is doing Secret Santa and you’ve ended up pulling a name out the hat you don’t recognise. Oh great..! What if you end up buying them a chocolate rabbit and they’re lactose intolerant?! FEAR NOT. We’ve put together four ways that you’re definitely guaranteed 100% going to get them the perfect gift*.

*May not be true, but we’ve tried our best.

1. Their desk

People ooze their personality all over their desk, some go for the minimalistic look, and some go for the “I definitely still need these documents from 2006” look. Disney princess stickers, a ruler with an “I rule” slogan, a leftover Pot Noodle… that’s a good indication for you.

2. Lunch time

Let’s set the scene – you’re on your lunch break getting stuck into last night’s pasta bake. There’s a group of you, you’ve spotted the person you’re buying your gift for. Oh, it looks like someone has left a Boots catalogue lying about – why not go through it, reading out any deals or giftsets that you think he/she would like – look out for that glisten in thier eye.

3. It takes two

Two heads are better one – well, so it’s claimed. With someone you’re friendly with at work, why not join forces? Yes, we know that kind of breaks the rules of “Secret Santa” but let’s live life dangerously. With both of you overhearing conversations around the office (*cough* being nosey), you can share any ideas you have. Remember though, it’s supposed to be a secret – so don’t be blurting anything out when there are others around.

4. Water cooler

The famous water cooler. The area where you get a minute or so just to shoot the breeze and awkwardly speak to someone that you don’t typically speak to (usually who you’ve got for Secret Santa). All you have to do is drop gift ideas in to conversation subtly:

“How are you?”, “It's cold outside isn't it?”, “Don’t you wish you had a onesie?!”

You’re onto a winner.

If all the above fails, don’t panic. Christmas is all about family, friends, festivities, food, fun and a little planning. Plus a gift voucher is always a nice option.
